In plain words: what data we process, why, and who can access it.
Who the controller is
The controller is Peter Luca, a private individual (Ukompas isn't a company yet). Contact: contact@ukompas.eu.
What data we process
- Your test answers and the interest profile calculated from them.
- An anonymous user ID, created when you save a test result or a programme, with no name or email.
- Your confirmation that you are at least 16, and its date.
- If you create an account: your email and password. The password is stored only in encrypted (hashed) form; nobody can see it.
- Programmes you save.
- Security records of sign-ins: IP address and browser type.
What we use it for, and on what basis
- Scoring your test and recommending fields and universities: your consent, given before your result is saved.
- Your account and saved programmes, so you can come back to them: providing the service you asked for.
- We only use your email to sign you in: account confirmation, sign-in links and password reset. We never send marketing emails.
- Security records: our legitimate interest in protecting the service from abuse.
- Aggregate statistics to improve Ukompas: how many people have each interest type, which fields they rate highest in the test and which programmes they save. The Ukompas team only sees totals, never a particular person's result or saved programmes: our legitimate interest in improving the service.
- You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your data under My account.
Do I have to give my email?
No. You get the test and your interest profile without an email. You need an account with an email to see all recommended fields and to come back to them from another device.
Who can access it
- Only you can see your results and saved programmes. Rules in the database itself enforce this.
- Supabase: database and sign-in; data is stored in the EU (Ireland).
- Resend: sends the sign-in emails from the EU (Ireland).
- Lovable and Cloudflare: website hosting and delivery.
Transfers outside the EU
Your data (results, account and saved programmes) is stored only in the EU, in a Supabase database in Ireland, and we don't transfer it outside the EU. The site's fonts load from Ukompas itself, not from Google's servers.
Cloudflare delivers the site from the data centre nearest to you, and sees technical data such as your IP address while doing so.
Storage in your browser
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser only keeps what the site needs to work: language, dark mode, programmes picked for comparison, your sign-in, the ID of your latest test result (so we can offer to add it to your account) and a test in progress in the open tab (deleted when you close it).
Usage counts and error reports
- We count how often things happen on the site: searches and clicks from the results to a programme, tests started and finished, field, school, programme and result pages opened, clicks to a university's website, an official record or an application, and comparisons. We store only daily totals, without cookies, IP addresses or any identifier, so they can't tell us who did what.
- When a search finds nothing, we keep its words (without diacritics) for 90 days so we know what the catalogue is missing.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we count nothing.
- A report of wrong data is stored with the programme, the page and the text you write, without your account or IP address. Please don't put personal data in it; if you'd like a reply, email us instead.
How long we keep data
- Results without an account: 30 days after your last test, then we delete them automatically.
- An account and its results: until you delete the account, which you can do at any time under My account.
- Security records of sign-ins: 30 days after last use. A sign-in you don't use for 30 days is ended, and you sign in again on that device.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict processing, to data portability and to complain to a supervisory authority. You can download and delete your data yourself under My account. See the GDPR & data page for details.
Users under 16
We only save results and accounts for people aged 16 and over, and you confirm your age before your result is saved and when you create an account. If you are younger, you can still take the test and see your result, but we don't save any of it.
