Fakulta financí a účetnictví

Finance, banking, insurance, tax and accounting, from corporate financial management to public finance and monetary policy. The faculty also trains teachers of economic subjects for secondary schools.

UKompas explains

About the faculty

The faculty grew out of the finance, accounting and teaching departments that VŠE had from its start. Today it has seven departments, from banking and insurance through business valuation, financial and management accounting and auditing to monetary theory and public finance, and two institutes, for strategic investment and for sustainable finance. Selected courses are recognised by the professional bodies ACCA and ICAEW, which shortens graduates' path to accounting and audit qualifications. Besides its Czech programmes it offers a master's in Finance and Accounting taught in English.

Applicants who take the maturita in Czech or Slovak are first assessed on their secondary-school grades; those whose average falls short sit a mathematics and an English test. According to the faculty, the chances are similar for all four bachelor's programmes.

Exam
  • mathematics test
  • foreign-language test
No exam, also through
  • secondary-school grade average
No exam No exam, on grades
Grades in Czech or Slovak, mathematics and English count, from the mid-year and end-of-year reports of the first to third year and the mid-year report of the final year. The dean sets the average needed in May. The grades are entered in the application and backed by a transcript the school confirms, by 30 April.
Exam Entrance exam
A mathematics test (60 minutes, only the formula sheet from the mathematics department allowed) and an English test (45 minutes), 100 points each. The total decides; whoever misses the first programme moves on to the ranking for the second and third.

Other requirements: Applicants without a maturita in Czech or Slovak must pass a paid Czech test (at least 60%). Enrolment needs the maturita certificate, or recognition of a foreign school-leaving certificate.
